The new TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 smartwatch has only recently gone on sale, but that hasn't stopped the company from announcing a special edition. The Connected Calibre E4 Golf Edition probably won't surprise anyone familiar with the brand's previous models, as it also released a golf version of connected Modular 45 in 2019.
The Connected Calibre E4 Golf Edition is based on the 45mm version of the new series, rather than the sleeker 42mm version we recently reviewed 。 This means it has a larger ceramic bezel around the flat sapphire crystal on the 1.39-inch AMOLED screen, while the 45mm case is made of titanium with a diamond-like carbon (DLC) finish. The crown has a rubber wrap that makes it easier to twist and navigate the watch's menu and golf course map, and it has two buttons on either side for other functions.
the golf edition is unique in that it has all the design changes and additional features. the bezel proudly displays the name of the golf edition and has a scale of 1-18 for the golf course, which matches the indicators in the tag heuer golf app. it can be selected from a white rubber strap with a dimple design similar to a golf ball, or a simple black perforated strap that makes it less sporty. as a fun and unusual addition, the titanium buckle on the white strap has a built-in magnetic ball marker.
Designed for use on golf courses, the tag Heuer Golf feature of this new watch has made some changes as part of the tag Heuer Sport app that comes pre-installed on the watch for iOS and Android phones. Connected Calibre E4 Golf Edition now features automatic swing detection, which is activated when it records swings in the golf course's tee off. It also works with the app's driving range feature and enhances historical data to show detailed heat maps of previous performances and help better identify club strategies.
The app contains a detailed 2D map of 40,000 golf courses around the world, and the redesigned interface displays distance, scores, holes and club information on the screen during the game. When your turn is over, if you use the iOS app, it can generate a 3D visualization with the trajectory of each hole. In addition to the Golf app, there are several new golf versions of the dial, including ones that match the strap of your choice.
Like the Connected Modular 45 Golf Edition, the Calibre E4 Golf Edition has a special display box that includes three Titleist golf balls and an alternate ball marker. It can now be purchased through Tag Heuer's online store for $2,650 or £2,200, which is £150/100 more expensive than the standard titanium Connected Calibre E4 with DLC.
